Treatment and Services
Quadra Behavioral Health provides therapeutic treatment to children, adolescents and adults experiencing mental health and/or co-occurring substance abuse disorders.
Clients will have access to Evidence Based Practiced (EBP) therapies to meet individual needs:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Skills Training
CBT is a form of therapy designed to eliminate bad thoughts and habits and replace them with more productive ones. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a common type of talk therapy (psychotherapy) that allows a person to work with our therapist who can help individuals become aware of inaccurate or negative thinking learning to view challenging situations more clearly and respond to them in a more effective way.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Skills Training
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a modified type of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Its main goals are to teach people how to live in the moment, develop healthy ways to cope with stress, regulate their emotions, and improve their relationships with others.
Motivational Interviewing (MI)
“MI is a collaborative, goal-oriented style of communication with particular attention to the language of change. It is designed to strengthen personal motivation for and commitment to a specific goal by eliciting and exploring the person’s own reasons for change within an atmosphere of acceptance and compassion.” (Miller & Rollnick, 2013, p. 29)
MI is a guiding style of communication, that sits between following (good listening) and directing (giving information and advice).
MI is designed to empower people to change by drawing out their own meaning, importance, and capacity for change.
MI is based on a respectful and curious way of being with people that facilitates the natural process of change and honors client autonomy.
MI is particularly useful to help people examine their situation and options when any of the following are present:
- Ambivalence is high and people are stuck in mixed feelings about change
- Confidence is low and people doubt their abilities to change
- Desire is low and people are uncertain about whether they want to make a change
- Importance is low and the benefits of change and disadvantages of the current situation are unclear.”
Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
Trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy helps treat a traumatic experience. It is designed for younger people, children, and teens as well as their families. The therapist goal is to help get past traumatic experiences. TF-CBT can help all parties address their thoughts and get past the ones that can lead to PTSD, stress, depression, and other mental health conditions.
Solution Focused Therapy (SSFT)
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a short-term goal-focused evidence-based therapeutic approach, which incorporates positive psychology principles and practices, and which helps individuals’ change by finding solutions rather than focusing on problems.
“The solution-focused approach can be a very useful tool with adolescents because of its future focus, emphasis on increasing awareness of personal strengths and installing belief in one’s resources to cope with problems (Hopson & Kim, 2004).”
Animal Therapy
Animal-assisted therapy is a therapeutic intervention that incorporates animals, such as horses, dogs, cats, pigs, and birds, into the treatment plan. It is used to enhance and complement the benefits of traditional therapy.
We have a wonderful surprise animal!
Art Therapy
Art therapy involves the use of creative techniques such as drawing, painting, collage, coloring, or sculpting to help people express themselves artistically and examine the psychological and emotional undertones in their art. With the guidance of a credentialed art therapist, clients can “decode” the nonverbal messages, symbols, and metaphors often found in these art forms, which should lead to a better understanding of their feelings and behavior so they can move on to resolve deeper issues.
